5 Ways to Ease Neck Pain While Sleeping

Wake UpMost people don't know how important SLEEP is to getting relief from their neck pain.

There are a few important factors in getting the kind of sleep that heals your pain:

  1. Stop sleeping on your stomach. Sleeping on your side is a great alternative, and sleeping on your back allows for a truly neutrally-aligned back and neck.
  2. Visit a chiropractor and ask for a personal assessment of your neck position while sleeping.  They will have some insight specifically for your situation.
  3. Allow yourself enough time for a good night's sleep. Between 6.5 to 8 hours is ideal, giving you time to get enough full, deep sleep.
  4. Limit alcohol and caffeine before bed. It will help you relax your neck muscles for a deeper sleep.
  5. If you don't have a Pillo1 yet, bunch a pillow in a log shape under your neck. Allow your head to gently fall over the top so your throat is exposed to the ceiling. This will help to re-educate the body to sleep properly.

Of course, "bunching a pillow together" isn't a good enough solution for most of my clients, who want the best shot at getting real relief from neck pain.

That's why I created the Pillo1, a scientifically-measured neck support pillow, designed to achieve perfect neck position, allowing for restful, healing sleep.

If you follow the instructions above and try out my new Pillo1, I know you'll be feeling better in no time.

There is something you could do for neck pain, not mentioned in this article. Neck pain at night could be caused by neck pain during the day. Neck pain during the day could be caused by a variety of reasons including slumping at the computer, at the TV, dinner table and everywhere else. I strongly suggest making an appointment with an Alexander Technique teacher as soon as possible.

I had trouble with my back when I would wake up from a night sleeping on my stomach. My doctor told me to try to sleep on my side or my back. Every time I started on my back or side I would roll to the stomach. So one night I used me wife’s body pillow from her pregnancy and I was able to stay on my side and wake up with no pains.
